What is Carnival like in Maresias?
Lively and packed. In 2026, the São Sebastião city government held free Carnival dances with a live band at Praça Internacional do Surf, in Maresias, from 8 pm to midnight, plus a bloco (a Carnival street parade) on Tuesday afternoon. Hotel occupancy across the city reached 87.7%, the highest in recent years. The 2027 program still hadn't been announced as of early October.
For families with kids in São Paulo state public schools, there's a bonus: 2027 classes don't start until February 11, the day after Ash Wednesday.
Close to the party, away from the noise
During Carnival, Maresias gets busy and lively, especially at night. Villa Blu is on a quiet street, a 10-minute walk from the beach: you walk to the party without moving your car, and come back to sleep in peace and quiet. Sleep quality is rated 4.8 on Tripadvisor.
During the day, the heated pool and sauna help you recharge, and the lookout offers sunset behind the mountains. To see where the action is at night, read our guide to nightlife in Maresias.
Can you enjoy Carnival in Maresias with kids?
Yes, with some planning. The beach gets crowded and the surf in Maresias is strong: with little ones, go in the morning, stay near the lifeguard station and follow the beach flags. The nearby beaches are a good alternative on the busiest days.
The Apartment has a full kitchen, so you can sort out the kids' meals without waiting in line at restaurants. Children up to 3 stay free (up to 2 per room). Find more ideas in our Maresias with kids guide and on our page for families.

- For families: the Apartment, for up to 4 people.
- To spend less: the Economy Suite, with the same breakfast, the same pool and the same parking space.
